ESL Summer Camp

Wonder how to spend your next summer break?  How about a month in New York? A lifetime experience in the world’s most vibrant and exciting city that has so much to offer. From touring attractions such as the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Times Square to really experience living and studying in one of the largest metropolitan cities of the United States. Not only you can improve your English language proficiency but also gain a global perspective!

The Felician University Daytime English as a Second Language (ESL) Program is designed for college or career bound students whose native language is not English. On your first day you are tested and placed into one of four levels of English instruction. Each level consists of 23 hours per week of teacher-led instruction, with each level lasting 16 weeks.

Admission Requirements 

Felician's ESL Academic Bridge Program is available to international students who are academically admissible to one of our undergraduate or graduate degree programs but do not meet our minimum English language requirements.  

The ESL Academic Bridge Program requires one to four semesters of intensive English language preparation. Once all ESL requirements are met, you seamlessly transition into your degree program. 

Admission Requirements 

Required TOEFL or IELTS test scores for applicants

Students who have test scores that are equal to or higher than the scores listed below may apply directly for admission to a Felician degree program. Students with scores less than these scores should apply directly to the ESL Academic Bridge program.

 

Undergraduate:  61IBT TOEFL, 500 PBT TOEFL, 5.5 IELTS, or 400 on SAT CR

Graduate: TOEFL 79IBT or 550 PBT; IELTS 6.5

Admission

International Freshman Requirements

  • Complete the application form

  • Pay the $30 nonrefundable application fee online.

  • Send official copies of all secondary school transcripts in English.

  • Demonstrating English Proficiency: TOEFL 61 ibt, 500 pbt, IELTS, 5.5

  • Send SAT/ACT scores, if available. These tests are not required from international undergraduate students but are highly recommended in order to qualify for larger scholarship awards.

  • Submit a personal statement.

  • Provide one copy of your passport information page.

  • To obtain an I-20 for a student visa, please submit a bank statement(s) and a Financial and Sponsor Affidavit form signed by your sponsor and whose name appears on the bank statement.

 

Please  Note: If you are applying to the ESL Academic Bridge Program, you must also submit an ESL Application - apply online.

A TOEFL/IELTS exam is not required if you meet AT LEAST ONE of the following:

  • Graduated high school or completed at least one year at an institution at a recognized English-speaking country. Please see our Country Exemption List.

  • Earned a C or better in an English 101 course from an American university or received a score of four or higher on the AP English exam.

  • Obtained an ELS English for Academic Purposes Level 112 Completion Certificate within the past two years.

  • Completed our ESL Academic Bridge Program, passed level 4 and an internal English exam.

 

Graduate Requirements

  • Complete the online application form.

  • Pay the $40 nonrefundable application fee online.

  • Official copies of all university transcripts in English

  • A credential evaluation of all foreign post-secondary transcripts. We accept any service that is a member of NACES (www.naces.org)

  • Demonstrating English Proficiency: TOEFL 79 ibt, 550 pbt, IELTS, 6.5

  • Official Transcripts from every accredited college or university attended (not just the degree granting institution). Send directly to Felician University from the academic institution or you may send in sealed envelope from each academic institution or from one of the following agencies:

    1. Any NACES-accredited translation evaluator (preferred)

    2. Student’s Ministry of Education

    3. U.S. consular officer

    4. EducationUSA adviser

Please note: We cannot accept photocopies or faxes of transcripts. Also, academic records issued in a language other than English must be translated and attested to by the institution of origin or an e-approved translation agency accredited through NACES.

  • Personal statement explaining your reason for pursuing the program. 

  • Resume.

  • Two letters of recommendation.

  • One copy of your passport information page.

  • Financial Affidavit and Bank Statement of students who seek an I-20.

Tuition and Scholarships

 

Bachelor

Tuition and Fees $33,750

Living Expenses (room and board) $12,630

Every international student admitted to an undergraduate or graduate program is automatically considered for a scholarship upon admission. We award academic scholarships based on a complete review of all your qualifications, including grades, standardized test scores (where applicable), extra-curricular activities, and overall potential to succeed.

English as a Second Language Alumni Scholarship

If you successfully complete our full-time English as a Second Language Program and apply to and are admitted into an undergraduate program at Felician, you will automatically receive a scholarship of $5,000 toward a bachelor’s degree program at Felician per each academic year of study.  This scholarship is automatically renewed for up to four years.

Bachelor’s and ESL Academic Bridge Program Scholarships

If you apply and receive admission to our ESL Academic Bridge Program or a bachelor’s degree program at Felician, you will automatically be considered for the following scholarship awards:

International Student Scholarship Award:$10,000 - $15,000 per year

To be considered for this scholarship, you must:

  • Take the SATs and score at least a 980 on the Math and Evidence Based Reading and Writing scores.

  • Have an equivalent to a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

International Student Scholarship Award: $5,000 - $10,000 per year

We understand a majority of international students do not take the SATs. The International Award does not require you to submit SAT scores and is awarded based on a complete review of the applicant’s qualifications.

International Transfer Scholarship: $4,500 - $15,000

This scholarship is based on a complete review of your credentials. You will be considered for a Transfer Scholarship if you:

  • Have more than 12 credits of earned university credit (foreign or domestic).

  • Have at least a 2.5 GPA in your university work.

Graduate Student Scholarship Award: $1,000

All incoming graduate international students qualify for this $1,000 award that is granted each academic year through completion of your program.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship: $3,500 

  • Awarded in addition to your International Transfer Scholarship

  • Admitted students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society will be awarded an additional $3,500 in their scholarship award, for a maximum award possibility of $18,500.

Master’s Alumni Scholarship

Students who graduate from a Felician University undergraduate degree program are eligible for a $100 per credit discount toward their graduate degree at Felician University.
